Title say it all, anyone here tried TIG welding? What did you use it for and how difficult was it? Wink

I've never actually made anything with Tig but played around a bit with it at college. It could just be me but I found it much harder than other welding types. Mig - give it a few hours. Arc - give it a few weeks. Tig - give it a few months/years. You have to focus on both hands at the same time. Sounds easy but not. The machines are quite pricey too so unless you've got a project where tig is a must - I'd opt for a way around.

That's a bit of defeatest attitude Scrappy. I'm looking at learning the Tig for sheet metal work. I'll stick in there and keep practicing until I can do it.

You're right Jimmy. It's an easy excuse to use because I can't do it as well as the other types! I keep saying next year will be the learning year. Perhaps I should make it this year.

It's easy to forget that I couldn't do the others either - before I bothered to learn / practice
